В современном мире, насыщенном технологическими изменениями, глобализацией и нестабильностью, привычные модели восприятия действительности оказываются недостаточными для понимания и адаптации к новым реалиям социокультурной сферы, некоторые стали символизировать эволюцию нашего восприятия современного мира и, вслед за классиками цивилизационного подхода к истории человечества, дают основание говорить о совершенно новой системе координат в развитии социума. Научно-технологический прогресс продолжает неумолимо продвигаться вперед. Благодаря ему технологии сменяют друг друга на протяжении жизни одного поколения, а историческое время существенно ускорилось.

В категориальном аппарате социальной философии появилось понятие «информационное общество». Мир становится все менее стабильным, менее предсказуемым и полным противоречий. Социум меняется на фоне глобального экономического кризиса, торговых конфликтов, санкций и военных конфликтов, деглобализации, пандемии, изменений и перестройки логистических сетей, четвертой промышленной революции и перехода к новому экономическому порядку. Все это свидетельствует о сложности и разнообразия современного мира. В данной статье мы анализируем на основе методологии социальной философии и социально-гуманитарных дисциплин ведущие характеристики современного типа цивилизации и их перманентную изменчивость и подвижность. Убеждены, что проблема цивилизационных характеристик современности выступает одной из важнейших для научного познания, поскольку они являются инструментом формирования современных культурных кодов наций и этносов, дают возможность для осмысления и практического решения социокультурных вызовов дня сегодняшнего.
